It's Saturday - Time to Hit the Beach in Your T-Bird

As mentioned in my earlier post, to me, the music of the Beach Boys screams summer to me. If there is any music out there that puts me in a great mood, it is the music of the Beach Boys. Songs about the beach, cars, surfing . . . having fun fun fun in the summer time. Their music is fantastic musically thanks to Brian Wilson's genius and coupled with Mike Love's lyrics, you feel compelled to drive out to the beach with the top down and the music playing loud on your radio blasting "I Get Around." Unfortunately, you go to the beach today, and what you will likely hear is that hip hop crap -- pure negative energy especially when contrasted with the positive energy of the Beach Boys' catalogue. In many of my images, I like to try to capture visually, the positive energy of the beach and the sea. But as a b-side to my beach scenes for this Labor Day Weekend, I offer you a car photo....of a T-Bird of course. Interestingly, most of the Beach Boys' singles had a surfing song on one side and a car song on the other side (to appeal to those folks who didn't have the coastlines to go to). So Hop in your T-Bird and Catch A Wave, and you'll be on top of the world.

Catch a Wave - Beach Boys

Catch a wave and you're sitting on top of the world
Don't be afraid to try the greatest sport around (catch a wave, catch a wave)
Everybody tries it once
Those who don't just have to put it down
You paddle out turn around and raise
And baby that's all there is to the coastline craze
You gotta catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world

Not just a fad cause it's been going on so long (catch a wave, catch a wave)
All the surfers going strong
They said it wouldn't last too long
They'll eat their words with a fork and spoon
And watch 'em they'll hit the road and all be surfin' soon
And when they catch a wave they'll be sittin' on top of the world

Catch a wave and your sittin' on top of the world

So take a lesson from a top-notch surfer boy (catch a wave, catch a wave)
Every Saturday boy
But don't treat it like a toy
Just get away from the shady turf
And baby go catch some rays on the sunny surf
And when you catch a wave you'll be sittin on top of the world
