Happy Wednesday infidels. As part of my urban bird series, here is a white ibis from the pond at Baptist Hospital which is located in South Miami Dade in an area called Kendall. For those not familiar with Miami, for many years, Kendall used to be known among Cubans, at least those with a colorful vernacular, as "el culo del mundo" which means the Earth's buttocks, which means, it was pretty far south. Now, every inch of the area is developed and traffic is nightmare. Amazingly, since every inch is developed, they are now building huge condos out in East Kendall which are going for a whopping million bucks. They look nice, but I could never imagine someone paying a million bucks to live in Kendall. (Sorry folks). But Kendall, like Hialeah, does have it's share of wildlife if you only look for it. Here in the pond at Baptist Hospital, I've seen white ibis, of course, ducks, grebes, tricolored herons, anhinga, cormorants, and an osprey gave me a fly by (albeit when I did not have my camera on me). So yes, Virginia, there is wildlife in Kendall and not just the ones that blast "hips don't lie" on their car radios.
Until next time, infidels. I leave you with these lyrics from one of my favorite tunes:
"Well I'm-a going back down maybe one more time
Deep down home, October Road
And I might like to see that little friend of mine
That I left behind once upon a time
Oh, promised land and me still standing
It's a test of time
It's a real good sign
Let the sun run down right behind the hill
I know how to stand there still till the moon rise up
Right behind the pine, oh lord."

beautiful photography, but why infidels? just a moment of curiosity.
wordsmith, mu use of the term "infidel" is my sardonic play on a word that is promulgated in the world today against me simply because of who I am and where I live and what I believe in. If what I do and believe in makes me an "infidel," then, so be it, I'll accept the term as a badge of honor and appreciation. :-)
Also, since I am a parrothead and an artist, my definition, I am a cultural infidel as well since I do not subscribe to modern popular culture; to me, it is all more or less bunk.
All you have to do is get away from the beaten Kendall path - basically Kendall Drive - and there's some neat wildlife. I see Ibises and Egrets quite regularly in my Kendall neighborhood, not to mention the occasional Cardinal.
